Artist's Biography
Andy is a self-taught artist and has painted throughout his life in his spare time while working full time as a software developer. In the past he most commonly painted in acrylics on paper board, and strictly for his own personal pleasure.
Late in 2003, Andy decided to try his hand at the medium of oils on canvas. He set out to develop a new and distinctly identifiable style for this latest adventure into art, and to create a body of work intended for public consumption. Even though the work is meant for public view, the style was developed based on Andy’s inward observations of the characteristics of various paintings that have brought him the most pleasure.
Andy and Debie, his wife, had discussed the idea of someday purchasing an RV and traveling the USA. The dream was to combine seeing the USA with participating as a vendor selling Andy’s art in numerous art festivals that are held throughout the country every year … someday.
Then, in February of 2005, Debie was diagnosed with breast cancer. After months upon months of treatment and countless prayers, Debie was pronounced cancer free, and has thankfully remained so to this day. The experience, though, caused Andy and Debie to reassess their idea of somedaySomeday requires planning and action, and simply waiting and hoping is neither. Indeed, it had become all too apparent that someday could easily be lost.
In January of 2006, Andy and Debie left Austin in their newly acquired fifth wheel trailer to spend the next three months touring the Southeast. While traveling Debie continued to work part-time software contracts, and Andy concentrated on generating a body of work in his new and developing art style. They returned to Austin for the summer, and then set out for another four months to tour the Northwest and Southwest.
Andy and Debie spent 2007 working computer software contracts and preparing for new careers as nomads wandering from art festival to art festival. Their youngest child was on course to graduate from college in December 2008, and so by the middle of 2008 the house had been worked into shape and placed on the market.  All preparations had been completed for Andy and Debie to head out in their fifth wheel for the art festivals in which Andy had been invited to participate. The dream had become a reality, someday had arrived.
